Antique cushion cut with crown brilliant faceting on the pavilion. Under 30× immersed examination, a prominent needle-like rutile inclusion is visible crossing the interior, along with some smaller crystal inclusions and surface features near the crown facets.

This Siam ruby exhibits strong red fluorescence under UV illumination, confirming natural chromium-based color, often most found in rubies from Burma. Lightly to moderately included — eye-clean or near-eye-clean in face-up position.

This ruby was acquired by our father, John Ekström, in 1981 in Idar-Oberstein, Germany — the world's historic center for gemstone cutting — directly from a master cutter. The original purchase receipt from 1981 accompanies this stone, documenting its journey from the gem-cutting workshops of Germany's gem capital to our family's private collection. Idar-Oberstein has been the epicenter of European gem cutting for over 500 years, and stones sourced there in the pre-globalization era represent a direct connection to the old-world gem trade.
